Why does my car need a regular Oil Change?

Manitoba weather can place major demands on the workings of your car.

Oil Changes are a simple way of making sure your car works as well as possible throughout its life.

What is does the oil do?

Engine Lubrication Maintenance:
The moving parts, valves, pistons, and other engine parts move at high speed. These components create generate heat and wear down eventually without oil lubrication.

Cooling of Engine Components:
Moving parts lacking proper lubrication create friction and heat. Clean oil is essential to prevent too much friction and over-heating of the engine.

Removal Of Engine Particles and Sludge:
Dirt particles will build-up in the engine, leading to corrosion and decrease in the life of an engine. Eventually, oil breaks down and becomes sludge. Routine oil and filter changes help to remove dirt particles and keep engines functioning at peak condition.

Better fuel mileage:
If your engine is not lubricated properly, it can lead to fuel consumption. Routine change with the right kind of oil improves the fuel economy and leads to saving on the fuel cost.

At Frank Motors we recommend having your vehicle service and the oil changed every 5000-7000kms or at a minimum of twice per year to keep your vehicle running safely and reliably.
