The Best Holiday Gift… Family Time
In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season we often forget the best gift, spending time with our families. Here are a few ideas to do yourself and events around Winnipeg this holiday season to enjoy your time with the whole family:
Canad Inns Winter Wonderland - November 29, 2019 to January 4, 2020 – Held at the Red River Ex grounds at Portage Ave and the perimeter, the Canad Inns Winter Wonderland is a festive seasonal 2.5-kilometer drive-thru light display. The display has over one million lights, over 26 different displays, an outdoor skating rink along the route and on weekends you can enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride. It’s a great way to spend some quality family time while enjoying the lights of the season.
Canadian Pacific Holiday Train - TBD – Bring the whole family out to visit 2 trains decorated front to back with LED lights at Winnipeg Station located at Panet Road and Molson Street. The Holiday Train returns for it’s 21st year raising money, food and awareness for food banks and hunger issues across Canada.
Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Nutcracker – December 19th to 28th – For audiences of all ages, this magical holiday tradition follows Clara’s Christmas fantasy. Watch as toys come alive, travel with Clara to the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Kingdom and enjoy Canadian scenes like a hockey game on a snowy pong and a battle on parliament hill. A holiday classic for the whole family.
Red River Mutual Trail and Artic Glacier Winter Park – TBD weather dependant – Once the holiday festivities are over, to work off those holiday meals, skate the 6 KMS Red River Mutual Trail along the Red River. Or enjoy all that the Arctic Glacier Winter Park has to offer such as the 1 KM over land skating trail, the skating rink under the canopy at the centre of the Forks or Crokicurl, a unique combination of Crokinole and Curling.
