5 Best Manitoba Summer Road Trip Destinations… that can be done in a day!

The summer of 2016 will be one to remember!   The beautiful warm and sunny summer days began as early as May 1st this year and now we are approaching August, which may have you thinking how to stretch summer a little further.

Here are ideas to get you started in planning your next road trip and things to do in a day:

1. New Iceland Heritage in Gimli

Gimli is a popular destination for many reasons because of the long sandy beach and the pier that stretches far out into the water that provides a great view of sail boats and windsurfers.  Be sure to walk along the main strip and see the popular H.P. Tergensen & Sons old style general store, it is one of the oldest buildings in Gimli!

Gimli is historically an Icelandic town, and you could make a day of the Icelandic Heritage Festival coming up on the August long weekend (July 29 – Aug 1).  Take a tour of Vikings & Runes to experience the New Iceland.  You’ll experience the past as you explore key locations and icons along Gimli’s waterfront that tell the story of the arrival and settlement of the Icelandic Settlers in Manitoba.  Tour Info
